About this item
An original Royal Air Force officer's peaked cap made by 'Gieves & Hawkes' in the 1960s.
This style of cap was worn by RAF officer's for many years and is still in use today. The body of the cap is made from RAF blue grey coloured barathea wool as is the peak. An original Queen's crown cap badge is fitted to the front and there is a black mohair band round around the circumference of the cap. A black coloured patent chin strap is also present and is held onto the cap with two cloth covered buttons..
Inside the cap is lined and features a leather sweatband and the leather original label is still present to the crown. It bears the maker's name of 'Gieves & Hawkes' along with two royal appointments.
The condition of the cap is very good and it displays well. There are some signs of wear and use along with a couple of small holes which are illustrated in the pictures. Overall it displays well but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A very nice Jet Age era peaked cap from a prestigious maker!
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
