About this item
An original WW2 RAF Ordinary Airman's Forage Cap in good condition which dates from the Second World War.
These caps came into issue with the RAF shortly before the Second World War and were worn by all airmen of the rank of Flight Sergeant and below. It is now an iconic piece of wartime RAF clothing synonymous with both Sergeant Aircrew and ground crew alike.
This particular example features a brass Kings crown cap badge and two brass Kings crown buttons to the front as was standard at the beginning of WW2 and make it ideal for someone looking for an early example.
The cap is around a size 7 1/8 measuring 10 5/8" along the inside of the opening when laid flat.
The condition of the cap is fairly good as can be seen in the photographs. It shows signs of wear and age to the interior which is soiled. The original markings are no longer present due to this but it is clearly an original example. There are a couple of small moth nips to the exterior which are illustrated in picture 3 and reflected in the price. Overall it displays well enough but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
A WW2 period example of this RAF hat which would make a nice addition to a Second World War RAF collection.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
