A good and absolutely original example of a privately purchased Royal Flying Corps Field Service Cap.
Constructed in the classic Khaki Gabardine of the period, it retains its bronze RFC badge held firmly in place by two blades, the side flaps closed at the front with two RFC buttons by Gaunt. Along its lower edge are two metal hooks to allow the use of a chinstrap, the side flaps themselves to be held in place by two further hooks, one of which is missing.
Inside the silk or Rayon lining is quilted, and without damage.
When displayed only about three moth holes are evident, however further moth damage is obvious when the side and peak flaps are turned down. I have tried to show this to its full extent.
