    About this item

An original 1943 Dated 1942 Pattern Airborne Surgical Haversack in good condition.

This pattern of haversack was introduced in 1942 for use with airborne forces and saw issue throughout the rest of the Second World War and into the post-war years. The pack is made from the standard khaki coloured webbing material used during this period and a large white circle with red cross is painted to the front. The words 'General Purpose' have also been stenciled to the front.

Inside the bag there are various compartments which are designed to house specific medical supplies such as bandages, tablets etc. There is a pocket to the underside of the flap which is used to house scissors. The underside of the flap also bears the maker's marking which reads 'B Ltd' which is followed by the War Department broad arrow marking and the 1943 date.

The bag is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are no signs of undue wear or damage and overall it displays very well.

A nice original example which is in good condition and has a clear wartime date.
