    Awarded to 5839 Private James William Beckett served with the 4th Battalion Kings (Liverpool) Regiment. Queen South Africa: (5839 PTE. J. W. BECKITT. LIVERPOOL REGT.) Born in 1884 in the town of Darlington in the county of Durham. He enlisted at the age of 17 years and 11 months his occupation at time on enlistment was recorded as Labourer. On the joining the army he saw service in the South African Boer War campaign and finally being discharged from service on the 27th October 1907. (with copy Attestation Papers, medal roll & Service Notes).
