    About this item

A quite excellent matched set of 1944 dated Admiralty Officer’s Working Dress Blouse and Trousers in a good size 10.

Both Blouse and Trousers are tailored in a navy blue wool serge, are completely free from moth or other damage and carry their original labels to the same make, H. Lottery and Co.Ltd. Their overall condition can quite justifiably be described as “near new”.

The Blouse has two flapped breast pockets each closed by a button matching the three larger front closure buttons. A further single black button allows the lay flat collar to be closed at the neck. At the waist a button flap provides adjustment with three buttons. Each cuff is closed by a single black button.

Shoulder Boards carry the golden braid of a commander and are fully stitched into place. There are four ribbon bars above the left breast pocket.

The Trousers appear never to have been worn. They are a perfect colour match to the Blouse and have two side slash pockets and two rear pockets which are closed by a single button. The fly is closed by four buttons with a fifth at the waist and with an additional six buttons around the waist to accommodate braces.

First introduced in early 1944 the Officer’s Working Dress heralded a departure from Royal Navy dress tradition. It proved popular as well as practical.

It would not be possible to upgrade this uniform pair.
