About this item
An original 1940 dated British Army MKII Steel Helmet in black.
This pattern of helmet was introduced in the late 1930s and saw service throughout WW2. This is an early example which features a reasonable amount of its original black paint finish to the shell which indicates it was intended for use on the Home Front. The shell is stamped to the underside with the maker's initial of 'F. M' along with the 1940 date.
The original liner is still present and is held in with the small pattern domed headed screw. The liner features the cruciform shaped head pad and features the maker's initial of 'TTC' stamped into it along with the size of 7 1/4 and the 1940 date.
The original chin strap is also still present and is in reasonable condition for its age.
A very original, untouched helmet from the early part of the Second World. This would be ideal for someone interested in the Home Front, Blitz or similar.
