About this item
An original Royal Australian Air Force Ordinary Ranks Field Service Cap in a good condition and dating from the Second World War.
This cap is identical in design to those used by Ordinary Airman in the RAF during the Second World War with the main difference being the much darker shade of blue the wool is dyed. The wool is the serge type used for Ordinary Airman's clothing and there is evidence of where a cap badge has previously been fitted to one side. Two buttons are fitted to the front and the interior is lined with a black coloured cotton drill and features a blue cotton sweatband. There is an original size label which reads 6 3/8 although it fits me and I wear a size 7!
The cap appears to be in unworn condition and is still a nice deep coloured with no signs of wear etc. There are a few moth nips as shown in the pictures so please take time to study these before purchasing.
A good original example in unworn condition!
