    About this item

A good "Comfortease" Private purchase officers tropical 'Wolseley' pattern helmet by "Burberry's".

This distinctive high domed helmet has a brown leather trim to the brim, and a matching chinstrap.

The same brown leather also forms the headband on the interior, which is marked in faded gold script "Comfortease Royal letters patent" and "Adopted by H.M. Govt" The other side declares "Real Roan Leather" This example has a green linen interior, with the crown lined inside silk and 'coolair aluminex'.

RAF silk flash stitched on the puggaree. It comes with the added bonus of the original owners name carefully written on the "Burberry's" label, opening up an avenue of research. Likely 1930's to early WW2 in date.

In generally very good clean condition with minor staining to the outside, and small loss to the green interior fabric.

There is no size marked on the head band, but the circumference measures 21 inches.

All in all a very good example of this type of private purchase helmet which will make a superb display piece.
