WW2 US NAVY TYPE 1092 FLYING HELMET

WW2 US NAVY 1092 FLYING HELMET. A nice US NAVY flying helmet, as used and worn by Navy pilots and airmen.

A good example of this wartime used US NAVY flying helmet. The leather in good soft, supple condition. Still retaining good colour and brown finish. It appears the helmet has had some leather balm at some point and this has left some residue behind. Not to its detriemnt, a good wipe could remove this. The helmet complete with pressed leather chinstrap, well worn but complete and not damaged. Finally the outside still with 3 goggle straps undamaged to the rear. Inside we find a chamois liner, soiled but not from wear. There appeasrs to be some verdrigris stains to the chamois from brass shell cases. The outline of these is unmistakeable! Unfortantely no history to this helmet so we are unsure why these stains are inside the helmet, regardless they are not too much of an issue. The rest of the liner is clean and in good condition without damage. Size wise it is not marked but we estimate it would fit a UK 57 hat size. Overall a nice example of this US NAVY flying helmet, ideal for a collection, display or museum.
