    About this item

An original ‘Greatcoat, Dismounted, 1951 Pattern’ by Stone Bros and dated 1955.

This pattern of Greatcoat was introduced in the post-war years replacing the 1940 pattern. It is very similar in design with only a few subtle differences to its wartime counterpart. It is made from a heavy serge wool and features brass kings crown buttons. Short post-war lance corporal stripes are also in evidence on each sleeve. A half belt can be found to at the rear of the coat whilst two flapped pockets are present to the front of the coat, one one each hip.

Inside the coat the original label is still present which bares the War Department broad arrow marking and 1955 date. As well as this it states the coat as being a size 9 which will fit somebody of around 6’ tall with a 40” chest.

The condition of the coat is reasonable for it’s age but it does show signs of wear and use, as is to be expected with a vintage coat. Please study the photographs as they form part of the description.

Altogether a good early post-war greatcoat which is much cheaper than their wartime counter-parts!
