Original WW2 British Women's Military V-Neck Jumper - ATS / FANY

A scarce original women's military V-Neck pullover jumper dating from the Second World War which is in excellent condition. 

This style of jumper was worn by various women's military units during WW2 including the Auxiliary Territorial Service, the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry, and many more. This example is a private purchase example which could have belonged to a member of the rank and file or an officer. Being of private purchase origin, the jumper is devid of standard labels or markings and is therefore impossible to date exactly. However, the construction, cut and materials used are typical of the WW2 period. 

The jumper is machine made from 100% wool which is a khaki green colour. It features a knitted V-Neck, waistband and cuffs and there is a washed out label located inside below the rear neckline. The jumper is cut short in the body as is typical of 1940s knitwear. This is because it was designed to be worn with high waisted trousers. 

The jumper is a smaller size which will suit around a 34-36" bust depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures - 

Chest- 16" (pulls out to 18"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 21"
Shoulders - 16
Length at rear - 19"

The jumper is in excellent condition with only very limited signs of wear or age. Overall it displays very well and is totally wearable but please bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age. 

A very nice original period piece of knitwear which would compliment a women's military uniform very well.
