    About this item

An original battledress blouse in navy blue complete with Merchant Navy Insignia.

This jacket clearly started life as a British Army 1940 Pattern Battledress Blouse most likely made in 1941 as it has twin internal pockets and te later pattern waist buckle. The jacket has been over dyed a navy blue colour meaning the label is now more or less illegible. The jacket is fitted with nice Merchant navy shoulder titles as well as rank insignia to the epaulettes and Great War medal ribbons have been added to the chest.

The jacket is a similar size to a British Army Battledress of size 9 or 13 so should fit around a 38-40" chest. When laid flat it measures -

    Chest - 23 1/2"
    Inside arm - 19"
    Outside arm - 26"
    Waist - 18 1/2"
    Length - 21 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition for its age with some signs of wear and use. There are a few small holes to the sleeve which are only noticble on close inspection but overall it displays well. Being a vintage, pre-worn item the jacket may have other small issue commensurate with age.

A nice original WW2 jacket which displays well.
