About this item
A scarce original pair of women's 1945 dated Khaki Drill trousers as worn by the Auxiliary Territorial Service and Nurses.
This pattern of trousers was introduced as part of a full anti mosquito uniform designed for wear in the tropics. They were issued alongside a KD bush jacket which had removable sleeves, spats, gloves and an anti mosquito netted hood. The trousers themselves are made from the standard khaki coloured cotton drill and are cut with a very wide leg as was fashionable at the time. The slacks fasten at the side with removeable revolving shank buttons and the rear of the waist features a hidden elastic section which has cotton tabs on each end which can be fastened onto the side buttons to change the size of the waist.
The original label is still present to the interior and is bright and legible. It bears the title 'Slacks, Mosquito' below which is the size of No. 3. The maker's name of 'I. Miller & Co Ltd London' is present as is the 1945 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.
The waist of the trousers is adjustable and when laid flat the trousers measure -
Waist - 13 1/2"
Hips - 20"
Rise - 16"
Rear rise - 15"
Inside leg - 27"
Outside leg - 41 1/2"
Cuff - 9"
The trousers are in very clean condition for their age and are totally wearable. There is no serious damage or wear but there is limited staining and other signs of use. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a vintage pair of pre-owned trousers which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A rare pair of wartime women's trousers with a clear wartime date!
