    About this item

A pair of early 1980s Royal Canadian Air Force patches from 421 'Red Indian' Squadron.

421 Fighter Squadron was formed in 1942 at RAF Digby in England. After the war the Squadron was stationed variously in England and France before setting up in West Germany in 1967 at CFB Baden-Soellingen. At this point the squadron were flying CF-104 Starfighters, which it retained until the mid 1980s when they were replaced by CF-18 Hornets. The patches therefore date from the late Starfighter or early Hornet period.
