About this item
WW2 RAF Aircrew 1941 Pattern Mae West as Originally Worn Circa 1943.
This is an extremely rare example which remains near complete as originally worn during WW2
The Mae West retains an early style large Air Ministry issue label, original working AM Crown zip, torch pocket and flap.
Chest pocket popper pulled. Complete with all web ties and dye flap. Two of three font buttons present.
Retaining original bladder this dated November 1942 and remains fitted with chrome pull leaver, CO2 bottle removed.
The manual inflation tube is supple.
Bladder not removed from the Mae West for inspection.
Three piece kapok pads with issue stamp present.
The overall condition is grubby as would be expected from long service flying use. It is interesting to note that the facing left side shows lighter colour were a dingy knife was probably worn at some time. There is a very faint ink name, which I could not read.
This Mae West remains as originally worn as used. and is one of only a handful I have seen. One for the advanced collector
