    About this item

    FREE POSTAGE ON THIS ITEM

This is an original RAF / Air Ministry  ditching whistle dating to the Second World War.  This particular style was used by the RAF attached to the 1941 Mae West life jackets in the mid-late war.  And by the crews of the USAAF.  If you do some research you can see pictures of the Americans wearing them on the A2 flying jackets

The whistle is the classic snail shape and the body was nickle plated ( you can seen some tiny traces of it left on the whistle) So it is well used, probably after the war at a school whistle.

On one side is the AM and crown stamp, and below is the stores number 23/30.  On the other side is 293/14/L1795. Contract and stock numbers

A small but indispensable rescue aid that must have saved the lives of many downed allied airmen in WWII.
