About this item
This example includes a genuine World War I Imperial German Mod. 08 Infantry Binocular paired with an authentic World War II British Military Leather Case. It was quite common for servicemen to recycle high-quality captured optics into standard-issue British webbing and leather cases.
The binoculars are stamped on the middle with Fernglas Mod. 08 which was a standard issue model for NCOs and Infantry. It also has the manufacturer Voigtländer and where it was made, Braunschweig (Brunswick, Germany). Has a serial number marked on it which is 7611.
The lenses are intact with no major cracks. Focus wheel rotates smoothly and the optics are pretty clear considering their age. Does have some very slight internal dust on the optics. Does have the original field-grey paint on the outside with some minor chipping and age-related wear to them.
The leather case is in good condition but does have some slight age-related wear and cracking to the outside leather. The leather strap and buckle are in good working condition.
