About this item
A very nice example of a 1945 dated Tank Crew Oversuit in a good size 5
All zips are original Dot and as with the rest of the suit are in very good condition and fully operational. The detachable hood is present. There is evidence of three rank pips on the shoulder strap and the name “Maj K. G. Allen” appears inside. The suit is without damage and all press fasteners remain in place. There is some surface speckling which is I believe the result of bleed through from the lining material
Also, for some bizarre reason known as a Pixie Suit they first appeared in July 1943 and were made to fit loosely in the confines of a tank. It is lined with Angora wool with reinforcement patches sewn into the elbow, knee, and seat. There are numerous pockets and a pencil holder all at the front of the suit along with others inside. Inside, adjustable braces support the weight of the suit and allow a wounded crew member to lifted out of the tank. Full length zips also made the suit easily removable.
Now becoming hard to find, especially in this condition
