Original 1964 Dated RAF MK2 Flying Suit - Size 8

An original Royal Air Force Mk2 and 2a Flying Suit dating from 1964 which is a size 8 - The largest size produced.

Officially designated 'Suits Flying MK2 and 2a' the suit is made from a blue-grey coloured linen cotton and is fitted with metal 'Flash' branded zippers with chromium plated pullers throughout. Metal waist adjusters are also a feature and are marked 'To Release Lift' and there is a waist belt which features the large metal buckle used on a lot of RAF clothing during this period including the MK1 Aircrew Jacket and the Cold Weather Parka. Angled pockets are located to the chest and more pockets are fitted to the legs. There is also a pen pocket to the upper portion of the left sleeve. 

The suit has two labels to the interior. The uppermost is the issue label and bears the RAF Stores number of 22c/1911 and the size of 8. Below this is the 1964 manufacture dated and War Department broad arrow marking. The lower label bears the title of 'Suits Flying MK2 & MK2a' below which are various fitting instructions.

The suit is in very good condition with only limited signs of wear and use. Overall it displays well but please take time to study the pictures provided before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

Altogether a very nice example of an early jet-age flying suit which is in nice condition and is a large size. This would make an excellent addition to any RAF collection!
