Original 1966 Dated RAF MK9 Flying Suit - Size 3

An original 1966 Dated RAF MK. 9 Flying suit in a size 3 which belonged to a pilot who flew as an instructor at the RAF Central Flying School during the 1960s. 

This is a rare example produced in the early grey coloured ventile cotton rather than the much more common later green suits. It features Nickel plated zips throughout, some of which are marked 'NZ' which denotes Newey Zips as the maker. Velcro waist adjusters are present as is a plastic d ring to which the oxygen mask can be clipped. Epaulettes are located to each shoulder and the cuff fastens with velcro. 

The suit is fitted with an original set of padded Queen's crown pilots wings to the left breast and there is a large cotton patch to the upper portion of the right sleeve with the Central Flying School insignia. There is also a pen pocket located to the upper left sleeve which retains its original metal pen holder and small pen. 

Inside the suit there is a hanging loop at the neck. Below this is the original label which bears the RAF stores code of 22c/2758, the 1966 date, the size of 3 and the War Department broad arrow. Below this is a larger label which bears the title 'Suits Flying MK. 9.' and details pertaining to washing and wear. 

The suit is in good condition and displays well with plenty of signs of wear and use. This clearly saw extended use and has some staining and wear to match. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age. 

A very nice original flying suit which is a hard to find rare pattern and comes complete with all of its original insignia.
