About this item
WW2 RAF 30 PATTERN SIDCOT "TEDDYBEAR" LINER. A very nice sidcot liner for the early 30 pattern sidcot flying suit. Often reffered to as the "TEDDYBEAR" suit as they are made from a brown fur like material, and once worn on its own does make the wearer look like a Teddybear! A lovely warm suit, often seen worn in period photos by themselves without the sidcot suit. Strictly this was the liner for that suit, but it proved popular as an oversuit itself. I am unsure wether it was suppose to be worn with the fur facing inwards or outwards however? Now a very rare suit to find and always sort after by collectors who need one to complete their 30-pattern Sidcot suit.
The condition of the suit it must be said is excellent. It has survived very well, there are a few small holes found in one of the armpits, but these are not immediately obvious. Please see the photographs. When the suit is displayed though these are not immediately visible and they don't detract too much. The rest of the suit is in very good condition, with no other holes or areas of fur loss to report. Still retains a good strong brown colour and is very soft and furry! Inside the suit, there is again no damage or issues to report. The suit with the original label still in place, marked as a size 6, with size details below. Also dated 1938 at the bottom. The suit also A.M. crown ink stamped on the inside.
Overall a lovely example of these rare and desirable suits, ideal for any RAF collection, display or museum.
