Original WW2 British Military Women's Brown Leather Shoes - ATS / FANY

A scarce pair of original British military issue women's shoes dating from around the time of the Second World War.

This pattern of shoes was worn throughout the Second World War by women serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, First Aid Nursing Yeomanry and other units which had women serving within them. 

The shoes are made from a brown coloured leather which features a pebbled finish. Five eyelets are present through which the original laces are fitted and there is a toe cap which is also leather. The soles of the shoes are leather as is usually found on footwear from this period and the soles are stamped '5S' which denotes the size. This is done in the standard way that all British military footwear was marked during this era.

Inside the shoes are more markings including the maker's name and the size of 5. 

The shoes are in excellent condition with only limited signs of previous wear or use. They display very well with no serious damage or flaws. The soles show a little wear and there are two cuts which are evident in picture 6. They are however a vintage item so please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind they may have small flaws commensurate with age.
