    About this item

A scarce pair of Women's Auxiliary Air Force black leather ankle boots which were made by 'John White' in 1942.

This pattern of boots was produced throughout the Second World War to be worn with the WAAF pattern of battledress. They are now very hard to find today; let alone in deadstock, unworn condition like this pair.

The boots are made from a black coloured leather which features a pebbled finish to the exterior. They feature a separate stitched toe cap, a black painted metal eyelets, leather soles and rubber heels. The soles are marked with the size of 4 1/2 below which is the letter 'M' which denotes the width fitting. The original rubber heels are also present and bear the brand name 'Dainite' as well as the words 'Made in England'.

The interior of the boots is lined with leather and all of the original markings are still present. This includes the maker's name of John White, the 1942 date and the War Department inspectors stamp.

The boots are in superb condition and have clearly never been worn. They display very well and would be hard to improve.

A rare pair of original wartime women's boots in exceptional condition.
