    About this item

A hard to find original pair of 1942 dated Auxiliary Territorial Service brown leather ankle boots in a size 5 1/2.

This pattern of boots was introduced into service with the ATS in the early part of the Second World War and were intended to be worn with the battledress uniform. They are made from a brown coloured leather which has a pebbled finish to the exterior. The boots feature a separate toe cap and 11 set of eyelets through which are passed the correct pattern of laces which look to be original to the boots. The soles and heels are the original leather examples with a metal horseshoe fitted to the heel and the correct pattern of toe plates fitted to the sole. The instep of the sole is stamped with the size of 5 1/2.

Inside the boots the maker's initials of 'RT & C' are present to the interior as is the 1942 date and the size of 5 1/2M which denotes a medium width fitting. There is also a War Department acceptance stamp to the interior as illustrated in the final picture.

The boots are in good condition with some limited signs of wear and age. Overall they display well and look to be wearable but please study the pictures before purchasing as these are a vintage pair of pre-owned boots which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A hard to find original pair of boots with a clear wartime date.
