    About this item

An original British Army 1950 Pattern Jungle Green Bush Jacket Dated 1953 and in a size No. 1.

This pattern of jacket closely follows the design of those used during the Second World War. It is made from cellular cotton, or ‘Airtex’ as it is often referred to, which is dyed green for use in the jungle. The jacket features two upper breast pockets and two lower pockets although which feature flaps. To the upper sleeve is a formation badge which was worn by HQ Land Forces Hong Kong which are printed examples and clearly original to the shirt.

The original label is still present inside the jacket and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Jackets Bush (SCC 15) Green 1950 Pattern' and the size as No. 1 which will fit someone of around 5’4” with a 32-34” chest and a 28-30” waist. The manufacturer's name of ‘Albion Ltd’ is present as is the1953 date. Below these details is the War Department broad arrow marking which was applied to all British military issue clothing.

When laid flat the jacket measures -

    Chest - 19 1/2”
    Waist - 17"
    Inside arm - 15”
    Outside arm - 22 1/2”
    Shoulders - 17 3/4"
    Length - 27”

The jacket is in good condition although it has plenty of signs of wear and use. It is still wearable and displays well but is far from perfect. There is a hole to the rear where a waist belt has been worn as illustrated in picture 8. Overall it displays well but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A good example of this pattern of jacket with a nice clear label and original insignia.
