For sale is a WW1 44th Home Counties Division Territorial Army Silver Medal To J Bradford.

  The silver hallmarked medal from reads “44th Home Counties Division T.A”. The back of the medal is engraved “Inter Battalion Rifle Match Pte J Bradford 1922 4th R.W.Kent Reg”. This has the silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1922 by the silversmith Joseph Daffern & Co. This weighs 21.84 grams.    With some further research this is what we found.    James Bradford was born in 1898 in Northfleet. He had blue eyes, and he lived at 93rd Shepard street upon enlistment, his trade on enlistment was a labourer, his farther was called James Authur and his mother Eleanor.    James enlisted into the British army at the rank of private on the 15th November 1915.   James served with the 4th battalion royal west Kent regiment for 2 years and 206 days under the service number 11140. He also served with the 6th battalion machine gun corps for 324 days under the service number 7811878 which was a total of 3 years and 165 days. He later joined the reserves.    James entered the French theatre of war. Whilst serving in France on the 7th of June 1917 he was wounded “left arm bullet wound”.    James was entitled to a British war medal, victory medal and loyal service (wound) badge.
