    About this item

    Two-piece skull joined at the central high comb with rolled edges; swept integral brim rising
    to an acute point at the front and rear, the two pieces joined with lap seam and two rivets.
    The base of the crown is encircled with 14 lining rivets, each retaining its brass rosette
    washer.  Each side of the skull decorated with a raised embossed fleur de lis burnished
    bright along with the comb, against a black painted background.  Painted collection or
    ownership mark on underside of brim.  Morions with this decoration are known to have been
    made for the Munich Town Guard.  Very good condition, with no cracks or rust-throughs,
    which are usually found on these.  Black paint renewed.
