Dwight D. Eisenhower signed letter as Chief of Staff to the Army, on the day of his retirement 6/2/48.
The Signed letter is to Brigadier General Hayes Kroner from Dwight. D. Eisenhower on his last day as the 16th Chief of staff of the United States Army. The letter is sent from the Pentagon.
A Personal letter on Eisenhower’s personal embossed headed paper showing five Generals Rank stars below which is embossed in gold DDE. It is a letter thanking an old friend for his good wishes and future plans to take up a position of the President of Columbia University a position he held from 1948 to 1953 before becoming the first NATO Supreme Commander between 1951-52, before running for President of the United States.
Brigadier General Hayes Kroner is now known as the originator of the ultra-secret espionage organisation known as the Pond. This Organization was formed in 1942 to be separate from William Donovan’s OSS which became the CIA. The Ponds existence was kept secret until 2008
This is an extremely rare and significant letter from the ex-supreme commander of Allied forces and Future president of the United states to his friend war time colleague the chief of Military intelligence section of the War department General staff.
