    About this item

At 93 cms  (just over 3’feet) this WD marked British 1916 dated Screwdriver must be one of the biggest ever produced. To give an idea of scale the second picture shows it alongside a WW1 Brodie Helmet which is not included in this listing but which can be found elsewhere on the site.

It’s exact purpose is not positively determined but it is believed these were used by tank crews to adjust the carburettor which was positioned at the bottom of the engine and was otherwise inaccessible.

Made by F.G. Pearson & Co. in Sheffield and dated 1916 the metalwork is stamped with a WD arrow as it the wooden handle.

    Overall condition is very good.

A lovely item and conversation piece which is as much a piece of wall art as it is part of a tank collection.
