Original 1945 Dated Auxiliary Territorial Service Handbag by Bagcraft

An original example of an WW2 Auxiliary Territorial Service Handbag, dating from 1945. 

This handbag is the standard pattern issued to members of the ATS throughout the Second World War and features a canvas body, brass 'Lightning' branded zipper and leather shoulder strap which can be adjusted. 

Inside the bag the original maker's stamp is still present and reads 'Bagcraft Ltd' below which is the 1945 date and the War Department broad arrow marking. There is also a War Department inspection stamp featuring the broad arrow and inspector's number which has been stamped upside down when studying the maker's stamp.

The condition of the bag is very good in general. It has some signs of wear and use including staining etc. The brass Lightning zipper functions as it should and overall the bag displays well. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age. 

These original handbags are now getting harder to find and this example is in good, usable condition!
