An original pair of 1945 dated 1937 pattern tall gaiters in a large size 4.
This pattern of gaiters is still a bit of a mystery. It is believed that they were issued to the Royal Navy and marines and many war dated examples, such as these, have been found over the years. They are made from the usual webbing material used during the Second World War but are twice as tall as the standard 1937 pattern anklets. They feature brass buckles and leather tabs as well as a reinforced leather section to the bottom.
Inside the leggings are marked with the maker's initials of 'W. A. J. & T.', the 1944 date and the size of 4.
The gaiters are in very good condition with some signs of wear and use. Overall they display well but please study the pictures before purchasing.
A good example of this hard to find item of webbing.
