    About this item

An original 1957 Dated Royal Air Force Ordinary Airman's Tunic in a size No. 11.

Whilst this tunic is dated 1957 it is identical to those worn throughout the Second World War by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and a walking out uniform.

This particular example features either staybrite, or just heavily polished, Kings crown RAF buttons and comes complete with its original waist belt which has a brass buckle. The jacket is fitted with early Second World War eagle badges to the top of each sleeve.

Inside the jacket retains its original issue label which states the size as No. 10 which has been crossed out with 11 written in ink. The manufacturer's name is stated as 'H. :ottery & Co Ltd, London' below which is the 1957 date and the War Department broad arrow. The original owner has marked his service number across the label.

The tunic will suit around a 36" chest and when laid flat it measures -

    Chest - 19 3/4"
    Waist - 16 1/4"
    Inside arm - 20 1/2"
    Outside arm - 26"
    Shoulders - 16 3/4"

The tunic is in good condition overall with signs of wear and age. It displays well but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

This would make a good stand in for a wartime example and could suit a collector or re-enactor well.
