About this item
An interesting group awarded to Horace W. Brown who served with the 17th Lancers. 1914 Star (902 PTE. H. W. BROWN. 17/LRS.), British War Medal (L-902 PTE. H. W. BROWN. 17-LRS.) and Victory Medal (L-902 PTE. H. W. BROWN. 17-LRS.). At the time that hostilities broke out Brown was serving as part of the Sialkot Cavalry Brigade, 1st India Cavalry Division. They sailed from Bombay and entered the European theatre on the 8th November 1914. Later on in the war the Division in 1916 became part of the 4th Cavalry Division.
