About this item
A good, untouched 1897 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword by Wilkinson Sword.
This example would suit a Boer war display, the serial number dating it to March 1899.
Regulation 1897 pattern hilt with crowned VR cypher. Chequered backpiece, shagreen grip free from loss and with only minor service wear, and bound with silver twistwire.
Single fullered 32 inch blade with Wilkinson makers details to one side, and "HW" proof slug to the other. Blade etched with standard floral engraving, vacant panels, royal coat of arms, and crowned VR cypher. Some old staining to both sides, and would benefit from a clean to bring it up to display standard.
Housed in its original field service leather scabbard. It has an old working repair to the body of the scabbard just above the drag, which does not effect display.
Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
