    For sale is a WW1 The Rifle Corps (The Prince Consorts Own) Battle Honours Postcard . This is in good condition.

        HISTORY AND TRADITIONS. This famous corps was raised in 1800. It formed part of the Light Division during the Peninsular War, and the brilliant name it earned for itself in those days has been maintained throughout its history. No less than 17 battle honours were added to its roll of glory between the years 1807-15. It was present in the Kaffir War, 1846-7, and again in 1851-3. During the Crimean War it took part in the battle of Alma and was prominently engaged at Inkerman and the siege of Sevastopol. During the Indian Mutiny it took part in the relief of Lucknow, and in the subsequent opera- tions. It was in the Ashanti War, 1874, the the Afghan War, 1878-9, the Burmese War, 1885-7, and the Soudan, 1899. During the South African War it took part in both the de- fence and the relief of Ladysmith, adding on every occasion to its already glorious reputation. The words addressed to it by King William IV. are as applicable to-day as then :- And what more can be said of you, Riflemen, than that wherever there has been fighting there you have been, and wherever you have been you havedistinguished yourselves."     These will be sent via royal mail 1st class signed for and dispatched within two working days.
