Early Single Rear Seam RAF Irvin Jacket. Approximately 39-40" Chest size

A good example of an early single rear seam RAF Thermally insulated Flying Jacket, generally referred to as an Irvin Jacket.

A good medium size perhaps appropriate for a chest size of 38-40”, the Jacket is in overall very good condition, the leather soft and without damage or repairs, obviously having been sympathetically treaded with a light leather cream. Whilst all seams remain firmly stitched in place, there are some areas at the shoulder and arms where the seam covers have loss to the stitching, the neck strap having also lost its stitching.

All zips are by Lightning and appear never to have been replaced. Both arm zips operate well. The main zip opens and closes but the guide bar on the left hand side at the bottom has fractured making closure very “fiddley”. This would need attention. Beneath the collar, the elasticated stap is in place as are dual rings for securing the collar when in the up position.

There is wear to the fur at the cuffs, inside, the fur is deep and in excellent condition. The hanging chain is present but the there is no label.

A good early jacket priced to reflect the defects.
