About this item
An original 1941 Pattern Royal Air Force Sidcot Flying suit which was made during the Second World War.
This sidcot suit is the standard wired 1941 pattern which is made from a green coloured cotton canvas. The main zip is complete and intact and the puller features the 'W' marking often encountered on wartime RAF zips. The other zips are complete with their pullers which feature different markings including some Air Ministry marked with the crown and AM marking. One sleeve zip has been replaced with a ost-war zip as illustrated in picture 15 and this flaw has been reflected in the price. Inside the suit the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It states the size as 7 which is a rare, hard to find large size. It also bears the stores reference number of 22C/779 along with the Air Ministry AM and crown marking and details pertaining to size. The contract number 10508 is also present.
The suit is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. Overall it displays well with no serious flaws or damage and is still wearable. There is wear to the inside of each leg commensurate with being used for flying and other associated stains etc. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which has some flaws commensurate with age.
A nice original wartime RAF flying suit in a hard to find larger size.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
