About this item
A scarce original Second World War period Royal Flying Corps khaki pilot wing which is in very good condition.
During the Second World War those men who had qualified as pilots with the RFC in the previous conflict still retained the right to wear this badge. This example is of the same construction as WW2 period padded pilots wings, so was almost certainly made at this time for a veteran to wear on his new uniform. Quite often these wings featured a blue coloured backing but these are much rarer featuring and army coloured khaki backing which suggests that they were intended to be worn on British Army service dress or battledress.
The badge is in good condition with a certain amount of grubby staining to the light coloured feathers of each wing.
A very rare wing in fantastic condition which would compliment any RAF or RFC collection.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
