Original 1940s British Officers Khaki Drill Aertex Shirt - Size 40

An original theatre made British military aertex shirt which dates from the 1940s and is a size 40 chest. 

This shirt is typical of those made for British officers in the Royal Air Force, British Army and Royal Navy during the Second World War. It is made from cellular cotton (often referred to as 'aertex') which is a lightweight, breathable fabric which is ideally suited for wear in hot climates. This example is clearly a theatre made, I.e made in India or another theatre of war. It features typical stitching and buttons and appears to have been roughly modelled on the American issue shirts of the period which were popular with British servicemen. The plain patch pockets, pocket flap shape and fully buttoning front are all typical features of US shirts. The collar is a 'spearpoint' shape which is typical of 1940s shirts.

The shirt is a hard to find larger size which will fit around a 40" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 24"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Length at rear - 36 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Collar - 15"

The shirt is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures with only limited signs of wear and age. It is a vintage item so may have small issues commensurate with age. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
