    About this item

An original pair of attributed 1942 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Trousers.

These trousers belonged to Corporal Sydney Cooper 991457 who served with the RAF throughout WW2. He joined up before February 1940 so would have been serving during the Battle of Britain. He was posted to No.111 Operational Training Unit, Nassau in the Bahamas where he spent a long period.

These trousers are the standard pattern issued to Ordinary Airmen from the middle of the 1930s through to the 1950s. This example is typical of pre 1943 manufactured trousers as they have a white cotton drill lining and retain some of their factory fitted stamped brass buttons. The original owner has changed a number of these, including all the fly buttons for black plastic examples which is not an uncommon modification to find. The trousers have also been altered by having the fish tail rear removed and belt loops have been added.

The trousers are a smaller size which will suit a 29" waist. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 14 1/2" (15" if the buttons are moved back to their original position)
    Inside leg - 27"

The trousers are in worn condition which is to be expected of a pair of trousers which have been issued during the Second World War. Overall they display well with no serious flaws or damage but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original pair of attributed wartie trousers.
