Original 1940s US Navy Chambray Shirt - Size 15 1/2"

An original 1940s United States Navy blue Chambray shirt which is in good condition. 

These shirts were standard issue during the Second World War and Korea and are made from a beautiful light weight blue coloured chambray. They feature a full button front and two open top chest pockets. This example dates from the 1940s as is denoted by the spearpoint collar shape which was used during this period. The blue coloured two hole buttons are also an indication of Second World War period manufacture. The sleeves end in a simple barrel cuff which also fastens with a button. 

The size of 15 1/2 is still present inside the collar and the original owner has marked his name to the tail which reads 'Hevalow, R. E.'. There is also a faint unit stencil to the rear of the shirt. 

The shirt will suit around a 38" chest and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 23 1/2”
Inside Arm - 21 1/2”
Outside arm - 25 1/2"
Shoulders 19”
Length at rear - 35"
Collar 15 1/2”

The overall condition of the shirt is very good with some signs of wear and age. There are no serious flaws or damage but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age. 

All in all a very good example of this USN pattern of shirt.
