About this item
A rare original 1941 dated British Army Khaki Drill shirt which is in used condition.
This pattern or shirt was introduced at the beginning of the Second World War and was issued to all ranks of the British Army and also saw use with the RAF. It is made from cellular cotton which is a lightweight, breathable fabric ideally suited to the tropics. It features long sleeves, two pleated breast pockets, a stand and fall collar and epaulettes are located to each shoulder. Rubber buttons fasten the front, the cuffs and the breast pockets - some of which have deteriorated over time and a couple have been replaced.
Inside the collar of the shirt the original markings are still legible bearing the maker's name and the 1941 date.
When laid flat the shirt measures -
Chest - 23 1/2"
Inside arm - 21"
Outside arm - 22 1/2"
Length - 35"
Shoulders - 18"
The shirt is in worn condition as can be seen in the pictures. It is totally wearable with no damage or serious flaws but does have some staining as illustrated in the pictures. It may have other small issues such as marks from storage but overall it displays extremely well.
A good example of an early war British military shirt.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
