Original 1945 Dated British Army Officer's Collarless Shirt by 'Rego'

An original British Army Officer's Shirt which was made by 'Rego' in 1945.

This shirt is made from a green coloured linen cotton mix which was a popular choice for British officers during the 1930s and 1940s. The shirt is typical of those worn in the first half of the 20th Century in the UK having a half-placket front which was common until full button front shirts gained popularity in the 1950s. This style of officer's shirt was worn in the Great War and remained virtually unchanged by WW2. The shirt features a neckband collar which was designed to be worn with matching detachable collars. The inside of the neckband features the 1945 date and whilst the maker's name has not survived, all the details are consistent with shorts made by 'Rego'. 

The shirt is a small size which will suit someone of around a 36" chest, depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 22 1/2"
Outside arm - 24 1/4"
Shoulders - 17"
Length at back - 36 1/2"
Collar - 14"

The shirt is in worn condition with signs of age and use. Overall it displays reasonably well and is still wearable but there are various flaws including some moth damage, wear to the cuffs and a period repair to the tail. These have been reflected in the price. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.  

All in all a reasonable example of a WW2 British Army officer's collarless with a clear wartime date.
