Original 1960s US Navy Chambray Shirt

An original United States Navy blue Chambray shirt which was made between 1962 and 1966. 

This pattern of shirt was standard issue during the Second World War, Korea and still in service in the Vietnam War. Made from a beautiful light weight blue coloured chambray cotton material, the shirt features a full button front and two chest pockets which fasten with a single button at the centre. The sleeve bears remnants of where an iron-on rank patch was fitted previously and the original owner has added his name above the left breast pocket. Inside the tail of the shirt the original contract markings are present and bears the contract number of DSA100-2948 which dates the shirt to having been made between 1962 and 1966. 

The shirt will suit around a 38-40" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 23”
Inside Arm - 21 1/2”
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders 18 1/2”
Length at rear - 31 1/2"

The overall condition of the shirt appears to be very good and it is still totally wearable. There are notable stains and marks which add fantastic character to the garment. There are no serious flaws or damage but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn work shirt which has some flaws commensurate with age .

All in all a great example of a USN shirt in a larger, wearable size.
