Original 1967 Dated Grey MK. 7 Lightweight Flying Suit - Size 6

An original 1967 dated MK 7A RAF flying suit in the rare grey linen material.

This pattern of suit was produced during the 1960s in both green and grey. Whilst the green examples are still relatively common, these grey suits are hard to find and highly desirable today. It is made from linen and features a metal 'Flash' branded zipper to the front. All the other zips are the same but are devoid of branding. The original metal pen holder is present to the pocket on the left sleeve and there is a MKII Survival Knife patch fitted to the right leg which still retains its lanyard. 

Inside the suit both of the original labels are still present. The smaller label bears the stores reference number of 22c/2706 and the size of 6. The War Department broad arrow marking is also present. Below this is a larger label which bears the title 'Suits Flying Lightweight MK. 7' as well as instructions relating to wear and use. 

When laid flat the suit measures - 

Chest - 22 1/2"
Inside arm - 24"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Inside leg - 30 1/2"

The suit is in good condition overall and displays very well. It has been issued and worn however so does have some signs of age and use. 
There is a hole to the bottom of the lowermost leg pocket on the right leg which is illustrated in picture 12. There is also some staining but overall it is in good used condition. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age. 

All in all, a nice original Jet Age period flying suit with some nice period additions which would certainly compliment a post-war RAF collection.
