About this item
An original pair of 'Trousers, Drab' which were made in 1942.
These windproof trousers were introduced in 1942 along with the matching smock which was made in the same material. Based on the same design as the denim smock and trousers and produced in two different but similar materials; these examples are made from the lighter weight gabardine fabric rather than the mottled coloured 'salt and pepper' type. The trousers feature a drawstring waist and a map pocket to the front which fastens with a chocolate brown coloured plastic button - typical of mid-war manufacture. Both the knees and the seat feature reinforcement sections.
The original label is no longer present to the rear but the number '2' has been added in ink which denotes these as a size 2.
The trousers are designed to be worn over a uniform so they are cut in a loose manner. The draw string allows the waist to be pulled in and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 20"
Rise - 15 1/2"
Rear rise - 20"
Inside leg - 30"
Outside leg - 43"
Cuff - 9"
The trousers are in good condition with signs of wear or use. There is some light staining and some repairs as can be seen in the pictures but overall they display well and are totally wearable. These flaws have been reflected in the price. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing however and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A good original pair of windproof trousers which are very wearable.
