About this item
An original British Army Khaki Drill shirt dating from the Second World War period.
This pattern or shirt was introduced at the prior to the Second World War and was issued to all ranks of the British Army and also saw use with the RAF. It is made from cellular cotton which is often referred to as 'aertex' and is a lightweight, breathable fabric ideally suited to the hot climates. It features long sleeves, two pleated breast pockets, a stand and fall collar and tabs to which removable epaulettes can be fitted. These were replaced with fixed epaulettes in the immediate post-war period making this the correct pattern for WW2. Tropical pattern corporal stripes have been fitted to the right hand sleeve.
The shirt is a smaller size which will suit around a 36" - 38" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat the shirt measures -
Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 21 1/4"
Length - 34"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Collar - 15"
The shirt is in worn condition with various signs of wear and age. Overall it displays well with no serious flaws but please take time to study these before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A good example of this wartime pattern of shirt which could suit a collector or reenactor well.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
