About this item
A scarce original Indian made women's military aertex blouse which was made in India during the Second World War.
This blouse is a 'theatre made' example produced in India. A huge amount of clothing and equipment was produced here during WW2 and supplied to units fighting overseas in places such as the Western Desert, Italy or the Far East, due to shorter supply routes. The shirt is made from a typical khaki coloured cellular cotton which is often referred to as 'aertex' and it was a popular material for hot weather clothing during the mid-Century period. The blouse features a fully buttoning front which fastens with typical India manufactured buttons. The shoulders feature pleats which give the blouse a classic 1940s silhouette.
The blouse is a smaller size and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 18 1/2"
Shoulders - 13 1/4"
Length - 23"
The blouse is in good condition for its age and is still totally wearable. It displays well with limited signs of age and wear along with some light staining which is evident in the pictures. Please take time to study the pictures provided and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
