About this item

A rare original Women's Auxiliary Air Force Blouse which is dated 1941 and is in good condition.

This pattern of blouse was worn by the ranks and NCO's of the WAAF throughout the Second World War. It is made from a blue end on end cotton and features a neckband collar to which a detachable collar can be fitted. It also has a full button front which fastens with Mother of Pearl buttons which are typical of the period. The cuff is a French style which is worn folded back on itself and fastens with cufflinks. It features a single pocket to the breast which is a notable feature of the pattern as the officer's pattern does not have this.

The interior of the neckband bears the original markings which are still bright and legible. This includes the RAF contract with 1941 date suffix, Air Ministry AM and crown marking, the 1941 date and the size of 4.

When laid flat the blouse measures -

Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 21"
Outside arm - 23 1/4"
Shoulders -
Length at rear -
Collar - 14 1/2"

The shirt is in good condition with only very limited signs of wear or age. Overall it displays very well and is totally wearable but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original wartime dated example which is now very hard to find!

This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
